Siri wants to enable a “person-centric world,” rather than the device-centric one we have today. If you could type or speak instructions into an iPhone – e.g. “What is a good movie about to start near my current location?” , the product would deliver a textual and graphical answer.

Siri has more than 30 different partners whose APIs the app can plug into when answering a request. These include services like OpenTable, MovieTickets.com, EventfulEventful, StubHub, Taxi Magic, Rotten Tomatos, BingBing, Google MapsGoogle Maps, and YelpYelp. This list of partners will continue to expand over time.

What I was particularly impressed with is that if you have existing accounts with these services, you can log in to them and have Siri remember those credentials — so you can get your OpenTable points or use your MovieWatcher card. Siri will also offer up results from Bing if it can’t find something with one of its partners, so you aren’t just limited to the services that are integrated at the API level with Siri.

Siri assistant è ora disponibile gratuitamente presso l’App Store.
